Charity Fundraising Regattas

This is a very much more involved idea than the auction prize option. We came up with this idea about 5 years ago and has proved hugely successful, for both Spirit Sailing and for the charities that we have done this for. In essence we run a very challenging regatta or race on behalf of the charity, the participants of which have to raise money for that charity in order to take part in the challenge. We work very closely with the charity both in the lead up to the event and in the practical running of the event itself.

The image on the right is of one of a fleet of a dozen yachts rounding the Needles in the early stages of a race all the way around the Isle of Wight. This is a sixty to seventy mile, 8-10 hr race, and most of the participating crew are complete beginners, so you can see the challenge! There is of course a professional skipper aboard each yacht, and a separate support craft.
We run these events on a non-profit making basis to maximise the funds raised for the charity. What do we get out of it, you may well ask? Well we the chance to show lots of people what we do and how well we do it, and thankfully they appear to like it enough to come back for more, albeit in a different context.
These are wonderful events, which we enjoy running. They are a real challenge to the participants, and we have helped to raise over £150,000 for several charities over the past 5 years. Give Steve a call to discuss this option in more detail.
