Offshore Passages

Whilst offshore passages are not strictly speaking an RYA course as such, they form a critical part of your growing expertise and confidence.

There are many reasons why people join us for longer day or night passages - mileage trips as they are often known.  It maybe to accumulate mileage and experence for the purposes of climbing the RYA ladder of qualification, it may be just an adventure.  We 'aim' to go across the English channel to France and the Channel Islands, or West along the beautiful Dorset, Devon and Cornish coastlines and on down to the Scilly Isles.  Wherever we go we provide a blend of challenging voyages, with interesting passages and tricky pilotages, with lots of fun and frolics.  The Saturday night in St. Peter Port is not to be missed!  Dinner at the First and Last in Alderney with the redoubtable Rita is a chersihed experience.  Lunch at the New Inn on Tresco ( which can go on a bit ) tastes very different as a result of having sailed there.

The first time you sail out of sight of land brings a sense of excitement and release you have never experienced before.

We generally cover 300 miles over a typical bank holiday weekend.  Across to France, down to Guernsey, back up to Alderney, and back across to the Solent. We usually do one of the crossings as a night sal, which is wonderful.  Seeing all the ships ploughing up and down the shipping lanes is amazing, and learning how to avoid them is quite cool too!
