Welcome to the Spirit Sailing Sail Training School.  We are based in Haslar Marina in Gosport, which is just across the harbour from Portsmouth.

This is where we set about turning your dreams into reality.  This might be your first step into the world of yachting, or it maybe that you have many years of experience, and are now looking to formalise this with a qualification.  Whatever your level now, I can promise you that we will help you to achieve your ambitions.

Our teaching philosophy is very simple, we all remember very well being beginners ourselves, and how challenging and occasionally intimidating the whole thing can be.  From this basis we coach you gently through the steps, gradually building your confidence and abilities as you go, and above all we DON'T SHOUT!

We are very well aware that in addition to being a training course, this is also a weeks holiday for you, so we make absolutely sure that you have enormous fun at the same time as learning!

All of the RYA courses from Competent Crew through to Yachtmaster prep. and examination, are designed to run over five days.  Traditionally the five days would span a Monday to Friday, but recently the RYA have allowed the courses to be split over a long weekend of three days, and a second two day weekend.  There are various pros and cons to each option, and although we will run courses over two weekends, the mid-week option is in our view preferable.  The greater continuity improving the learning process.

Our prices are fully inclusive of all meals and soft drinks aboard, foul weather gear hire, mooring fees, in fact everything apart from your beer in the evenings! The evening meals are home-cooked and absolutely delicious!
